Athena’s primary practice area is health care litigation, with a focus on medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. Athena’s practice encompasses all phases of the litigation process, including discovery, motion practice, and trial work.
Before attending law school, Athena was a policy analyst for Texas State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa. During her years of public service, she was heavily involved in statewide legislation concerning education, health and safety, and criminal justice, and her policy work was covered by the New York Times, TIME Magazine, the Texas Observer, and Texas Monthly.
Athena worked with Senator Hinojosa to enact a life-saving bill that placed an AED on every school campus, investigated the operations of the Texas Youth Commission and brought abuses and criminal activity occurring at the agency to the Senate’s attention, thus spurring comprehensive reform of the agency as passed by Senator Hinojosa.
Athena graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, magna cum laude with Honors, from The University of Texas–Pan American in 2001. She attended The University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 2009, earning her J.D. in 2012, where she served as the Research Editor for the Texas Law Review and as a research assistant to multiple law professors.
Prior to joining the firm, Athena worked at firms in Austin representing businesses and individuals in commercial litigation, administrative compliance, various tort litigation, and appeals. During that time, she gained valuable experience which has helped her become an adept advocate for her clients.
